That Ye May Know

Are you saved? How do you know? Is it because you feel saved, or because you sense you are saved? Do you know that you can know for certain that you are saved? Please consider this verse:

"These things have I written unto you
that believe on the name of the Son of God;
that ye may know that ye have eternal life,
and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God."
I John 5:13

Rather than placing your trust in past feelings or sensations, you can place your trust in the unchanging, infallible word of God... John says that he wrote those things that you may know that you have eternal life. Also, it is written:

"It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus, That thou mightest know the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been instructed."
Luke 1:3-4

Here, Luke writes these things that we might know for certain the things that we have been instructed. It appears to be the very reason that Luke wrote his account of the gospel. And one more verse:

"Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge, That I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee?"
Proverbs 22:20-21

Given that these things were specifically written that we may know the certainty of these truths, what are we going to do with them? It is God's desire that we meditate on these things, and write them on the tablet of our heart (Proverbs 7:3).
