Can ye not discern the signs of the times?

Matthew 16:3

The goal of this study was to find whatever verses are clear in the Scriptures concerning the end times. There are many things that are unclear. However we want to focus on what is clear, and to know and understand them, by studying them diligently. Jesus has given us a precious promise that the Holy Spirit will teach us all things (John 14:26), so we pray according to that end.

  2. Nebuchadnezzar's dream (Daniel 2)

  3. Daniel's vision (Daniel 7)

  4. Seventy weeks (Daniel 9:24-27)

  6. Apostosia (2 Thessalonians 2:1-8)

  7. The Day of the Lord

In light of all that was presented above, what should we be doing now? The scriptures says eight times to "watch" (Matthew 24:42, 25:13, 26:41, Mark 13:35, 13:37, 14:38, Luke 21:36, 1Corinthians 16:13), three of which say to "watch and pray", and also "be ye also ready". Luke 19:13 says to "...occupy till I come...", which a number of translations translate as "do business till I come". Since Luke 19:11-12 is a parable about the kingdom of God, it seems that Jesus is saying we should primarily be concerned with kingdom business (i.e. preaching the gospel, making disciples, etc.). 1 John 2:28 says that we should "abide in him" so that we will not be ashamed when He comes. Moreover, 1 John 3:2-3 says we should purify ourselves "...when he shall appear... every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure." Finally, 2 Peter 3:14 says "be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless...".
