Introduction

Note, this article is part of a topical study series.

Our prayer and desire for this page is to clearly layout what the Bible teaches on the subject of sovereignty, election, and predestination, which we believe have been twisted by the writings of men to mean something that God did not intend, and that these twisted teachings are very harmful to the spiritual lives of those who believe the perverted teachings. The Bible gives us numerous warning about twisting the scriptures, especially about perverting the gospel. In Galatians 1:6ff, Paul says:

"I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed."

Here we can see that the gospel of Christ can be perverted, and Paul warns that this is a very serious offense. Furthermore, Jude 3 warns us to: "...earnestly contend for the faith...". Paul lays out the gospel he preached in 1 Corinthians 15:3-4.

In 2 Timothy 2:17, Paul warns us about Hymaneaus and Philetus teachings

"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. And their word will eat as doth a canker (cancer): of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus; Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some."

Peter warns us in 2 Peter 3:16-17:

"...some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest (twist), as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness."

False teachers tend to take things that are hard to understand and twist them. Moreover, the warning is that believing these errors may make a person more unstable in their faith.

We have a number of solemn warnings about twisting the scriptures and especially perverting the gospel, that we would do well to take heed unto. We believe a number of these key words have been subtly redefined to have meaning which are defined by Calvinism and not by proper biblical definitions, words such as elect, chosen, foreknowledge, all, whosoever, etc. We have evidenced Calvinism to spread like a cancer, and bring division even causing churches to split.

We believe that the teachings of John Calvin, typically called "Calvinism" have allowed a number of errors to creep into the church, and they have perverted the simple gospel which teaches that "whosoever believeth in him should not perish", which requires people to willingly make a choice to repent and believe the gospel (Mark 1:15).

We believe that God's desires for "all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth" (1 Timothy 2:4) and has done everything possible for anyone to be saved by Jesus paying the price for our sins on the cross "And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world." 1 John 2:2

Jesus said:

"And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." John 8:32

Only the truth will set a person free from false teachings, and therefore it is our desire to lay out the truth in a way that anyone seeking the truth may be set free from false teachings.
