I am writing this article to admonish the church concerning the selling of learning materials. I am concerned that the many people in the church are "selling" God's truths, when they are clearly to be given, like salvation, free of charge. Many godly brothers and sisters, who have been mightily used of the Lord, have written great works of exhortation and encouragement. I praise God for them. However, most of these works are copyrighted, and only available to those who can afford to buy the materials.
I praise God that the New Testament writers did not support their ministry by selling the letters they wrote to the churches!
The Apostle Paul knew this principle, and though he said "they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel" 1 Corinthians 9:14. He also said:
Brothers and sisters, we are not to fund the ministry the Lord Jesus gave us by selling literature and/or materials. And we are not to seek funding from others. Let us have the mind that Hudson Taylor had who said "God's work, done in God's way, will never lack God's supply".
